The foundation is the base upon which your home sits. In many aspects the foundation is the most important component of your home. Walk around the house, inside and out, to determine if there are any cracks in the foundation. Even the slightest crack can allow water to seep into your basement.

If you don’t have a basement, cracks in the foundation can still spell trouble. Water in a crack will freeze in cold weather and increase the size of the crack.
