What is meant by ‘science’? How do political, philosophical and religious beliefs affect scientific discoveries and developments?

In this course you focus on your own experiences and knowledge of science, and you look at creative contexts to support children’s scientific learning in primary schools and early years settings.

After studying this course, you should be able to:

  • reflect on personal attitudes to, and understanding of, science
  • identify the application of science knowledge in practical contexts
  • consider how scientific knowledge influences support for children’s learning
  • consider the impact of political, philosophical and religious beliefs on science teaching and learning.
