The diversity of family units and the increase in parental separation has resulted in increased demands being made on schools where their child or children are enrolled. This course aims to clarify the role, responsibilities and implications for the school following parental separation.

It provides an overview on parental separation and the rights of parents, custody disputes and the courts, children in care, school communication and school collection requirements according to parental status. A sample Custody & Separation Policy and some useful links are provided as well as answers to some of the most frequently asked questions in this area.
